2007 UBOC Event won: $100,000 Guarantee, 6 handedHow long have you been playing on UB?
I started playing on UB during my first year in college at the University of Michigan in 2002. It was the first and only site I played on for about a year.
How do you adjust your strategy from full table to 6 handed?
While you do see many more hands that are playable because of the short table I play pretty much the same as a nine handed, since I do play fairly loose in the nine handed tournaments.
Do you practice 6 handed playing sit and go's?
No I usually just play 9 handed SnGs. However, I do play a lot of 6-handed ring games.
You won the first event for UBOC this year. Was there a sense of relief winning the first event?
Yes there was. The last two months I final tabled four fairly large tournaments and in UBOC I finally closed the deal. It felt real good to close.
Did you satellite in or buy in directly?
Directly
Did you maintain a steady chip stack throughout or was it more up and down?
I was pretty much in the middle of the pack throughout the entire tournament until there were about 80 people and worked my way up to second. Then I lost two races where I was way ahead, AA v A10 and QQ v 77, which put me about 25 of 45. Throughout the tournament I told myself to never to give up, go on tilt, and put my money in bad. After these losses I regained my composure and stole some pots as play grew tighter and I had one big double up. This mindset enabled me to work my way back to the final table.
When did you become the chipleader on the final table ?
I entered the final table pretty much tied for 5th. I played a little bit looser because the final table was playing very tight. I also got some good hands in some great situations including KK back to back. I did make some great folds pre-flop and post-flop that pretty much saved me the tournament. I laid down JJ vs QQ and AK, and AK vs KK. Yet, I got rather lucky with AJ v QQ winning with J's full, giving me over a 3:1 chip lead with two others to go.
How long have you been playing poker?
I started playing for baseball cards and candy in middle school. Not until I was in my second year in college did I start playing online. Even then I played for real small stakes, 10-25 cents ring games, and built my bankroll.
Did you play/cash in any other UBOC events this year?
I played in one other event and got knocked out by the unbeatable Annette15 losing when I was way ahead QQ v her 55.
What did you do with your winnings?
Put it back into my bankroll and investments.
Describe your poker style.
Tight/Loose Aggressive. Depends what type of mood/table I am playing at.
What is your favourite hand?
KcKd
What was it like playing heads up for such a difference in payout?
I have been in the situation only 3 times before, and its one of the best adrenalin rushes I have ever had.
Any players on UB you enjoy playing with on a regular basis?
I always like playing against the top players. There are too many to name.
Do you have any tips for players playing satellites into the main events?
Be Patience and play your position and do not TILT!!!!
